On October 6, 2025, I came across Pablo’s story on TikTok, and from the moment I saw him, I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I know he crossed my path for a reason, and with the support of our community, we can give him the chance to recover and, one day, run again.
Pablo is a Belgian Malinois with a heart as strong as his spirit. He is currently in the care of DARS (Disabled Animal Rescue & Sanctuary) in Morocco. Although he is paralyzed from the waist down, he refuses to give up, ‘wooing’ with excitement from his bed as he watches the other dogs run and play in the rescue’s yard. We believe Pablo is only 5 years old and might be able to walk again with the right resources and surgery, neither of which are currently available in Morocco.
*IMPORTANT UPDATE 10/11/25
Once Pablo lands in Miami, I (Olivia) will personally transport him to EIO Rescue Ranch in southwest Florida. Brittany and Jennifer, the owners, saw his story on my Instagram and immediately wanted to learn more and welcome him into their care. Zineb, cofounder of DARS, and I are beyond excited to team up with them, knowing that Pablo will have plenty of space to heal. Their team has experience caring for disabled animals and connections with an amazing veterinarian who has successfully performed spinal surgery for one of their rescues, so Pablo will be in incredible hands.
Please take a moment to read Pablo’s Origin Story below, then keep scrolling to see how we can come together to bring him to the U.S. for the specialized care he needs, and the chance to hopefully walk again.
“He was a security guard’s dog. Not sure how he was paralyzed — probably a car. The security guard abandoned him. A woman took him in and tried to take care of him temporarily on her terrace. She asked for help from the associations but no one answered, apart from DARS eventually. DARS, already struggling like all, tried to support the woman to keep him while finding a solution. The woman had to put Pablo back in the market where he was once abandoned, so he was left in a dog house there. At that point, I paid for his transport and we moved to rescue him before the situation for him became worse. Poor baby. Passed from pillar to post and the loss of his legs — a breed that loves to move.”
- Louise, Animal Lover Who Helped Bring Pablo to DARS

Today, Pablo is safe thanks to DARS. They have him in a room with four other disabled dogs, doing everything they can to keep him comfortable with soft flooring, padding, and blankets.
To give him his best chance at walking again, Pablo needs access to advanced medical imaging, mobility aids like a dog wheelchair, and ideally, specialized surgery, along with physical therapy and good nutrition to maximize his chances of walking again. While Pablo's basic needs with lots of love and care are being provided to him at DARS, it’s our turn to help him take the next step - literally.
As we work to help Pablo, DARS has uncovered more of his story. While drafting this five-step action plan, Zineb sent me a video of Pablo running, swimming, and playing in the ocean with kind locals just a few months ago. Seeing him so full of life only fuels my determination and reminds me why this mission matters. DARS also learned from locals that Pablo’s injury occurred around August 18, 2025, likely as the result of a hit-and-run.
I know that if we all come together, we can change Pablo's life for the better, and here’s how we can do it...
To bring Pablo safely to the U.S., where he can receive the advanced medical care and rehabilitation he needs to walk again - care that is not accessible to animals in his home country.
Each step plays a vital role and depends on precision and teamwork. Below is the list of requirements and regulations by the CDC that must be it takes to bring a living animal to be imported from Morocco.
1. Microchip Identification
2. Rabies Vaccination
3. Rabies Serology (Titer) Test
4. Health Certificate
5. CDC Dog Import Form
Extra Notes & Precautions:
Both myself (“Liv”) and Zineb, cofounder of DARS, are working tirelessly to coordinate the safest and most comfortable journey for Pablo. After consulting a professional international pet transport agency, individuals who have personally traveled with their dogs from Morocco, and multiple rescues experienced in organizing international travel for rescued dogs, including one that has successfully brought over four paralyzed dogs from Morocco to the United States, the best route appears to be as cargo on a passenger flight with Royal Air Maroc, flying directly from Morocco to Miami to minimize travel time and avoid unnecessary stops.
1. Pre-Flight Preparation:
2. Flight Requirements:
3. Professional Transporter (OPTION):
We want to have Pablo fully prepared and safely secured for the journey, minimizing stress and ensuring he arrives ready to receive the specialized care he needs in the U.S.
Important Note:
Before Pablo can travel to the U.S., it is absolutely essential that a safe, supportive environment is in place for him. We cannot bring him here without a confirmed rescue placement, because he must have a secure space to stay, recover, and begin receiving the specialized care he needs immediately upon arrival. We are thrilled to share that as of October 11, 2025, the amazing EIO Rescue Ranch in southwest Florida has eagerly opened their doors to Pablo and will welcome him into their care as soon as he arrives in the U.S.
Key Goals for Rescue Placement:
Current Rescue Status:
Once Pablo arrives safely in the U.S. and is placed with EIO Rescue Ranch, he will begin receiving the specialized care and rehabilitation needed to maximize his mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life.
Key Goals for Pablo's Medical Care:
Goal: Every aspect of Pablo’s medical care will be tailored to give him the best chance to regain mobility, reduce discomfort, and thrive in his new life.
Note: These steps will start as soon as Pablo arrives in the U.S., which is why securing a U.S. rescue placement first was so important. He needs a safe, supportive space to recover while getting the care he needs.
Pablo’s journey to the U.S. and his recovery depends not only on careful planning and rescue coordination but also on community support. Every step, from safe transport to specialized medical care, requires resources, and without your help this mission literally would not be possible. So, thank you!
How You Can Help:
Important Note: This mission is entirely for Pablo’s benefit. No one involved will receive financial gain or personal benefit. Every donation, share, and effort is dedicated solely to giving Pablo the best chance to walk, run, and thrive again.
