What started as a venture into aesthetic pet accessories quickly took a new direction when founder Olivia’s priorities shifted. She put everything on hold to find real solutions for her service dog’s persistent health challenges—a journey that would ultimately change her own path and the path of The Happi Dog forever.

During the first few years of Puka’s life, he was at the vet nearly every month with ear infections, digestive issues, hot spots, and more. After years of chasing temporary fixes without lasting results, Olivia realized she needed to get to the root of it all. What she discovered was that a species-appropriate rotational diet, paired with proper exercise and mental enrichment, was the key to transforming his health.

Fast forward to today, and Olivia has spent the last three years working in the holistic pet health world, listening to the same questions and concerns she once had—echoed by dog owners everywhere. Many owners genuinely want to do what’s best for their pets, but the process can feel overwhelming with all the conflicting opinions.

This is where The Happi Dog comes in. By focusing on a dog’s primal and biological needs, we offer clear, practical guidance to help dogs return to their optimal physical and mental states. We are dedicated to helping owners give their dogs the life they were meant to live.

We are especially passionate about saving working breeds from euthanasia in high-kill shelters. It is heartbreaking to see these remarkable dogs, bred for their intelligence and drive, abandoned or surrendered simply because they were purchased for vanity rather than their intended purpose—to work. Many end up facing euthanasia due to kennel stress and lack of space, a tragic reality that fuels our mission. We believe these dogs deserve better. This is why we are actively working to make a real, lasting impact by supporting stronger breeding laws and effective spay/neuter programs, while collaborating with like-minded teams who share our commitment to ending the suffering of these animals.
